Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: May 2026

The Short Version: In The Boro is a marketplace. We connect you with local Teesside vendors. When you book a service, your contract is with the Vendor, not us. We facilitate the tech and the payments to make it easy.

1. Introduction

Welcome to In The Boro (intheboro.co.uk). By using our website, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please do not use the site. We provide a platform for local Middlesbrough and Teesside businesses (“Vendors”) to list event services and for individuals (“Customers”) to book them.

2. Our Role

In The Boro acts as a venue/service marketplace. We are not a party to any contract between a Customer and a Vendor. We are not responsible for the quality, safety, or legality of the services advertised, though we do our best to verify local vendors.

3. Payments & Fees

  • Online Payments: We use Stripe Connect to process payments. Funds are split at the point of sale between the Vendor and the Platform.
  • Cash Payments: If “Cash on Delivery/Event” is selected, the Customer is responsible for paying the Vendor directly in person.
  • Booking Security: For online bookings, the price is fixed at the time of order.

4. Cancellations & Refunds

Each Vendor has their own cancellation policy. It is the Customer’s responsibility to check the Vendor’s store page for their specific rules. In the event of a dispute, In The Boro will attempt to mediate, but the final refund decision rests with the Vendor.

5. Vendor Responsibilities

Vendors must ensure that their listings are accurate and that they have the legal right to provide the services offered (including relevant insurance and licenses where applicable). Vendors must not attempt to bypass the platform to avoid commission fees.

6. User Conduct

You agree not to use the site for any fraudulent purposes. We reserve the right to remove any Vendor or Customer from the platform if they bring “In The Boro” into disrepute or fail to fulfill their local event obligations.

7. Liability

In The Boro is not liable for any loss, injury, or damage resulting from a booking made through the site. Our liability is limited to the amount of commission received for the specific transaction in question.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be handled in the courts of the United Kingdom.
